To transform Prichard into a safer, more prosperous, and well-developed city by fostering collaboration with law enforcement, resolving the ongoing water crisis, modernizing infrastructure, and driving economic growth.

Year 1

Establishing the Foundation

Educating city officials through the Alabama League of Municipalities (ALM) involves
structured training, resources, and networking opportunities. ALM provides newly elected and
veteran officials with guidance on municipal governance, legal requirements, and best practices.
Here’s a breakdown of the process:

1. Orientation and Initial Training

 

  • Certified Municipal Official (CMO) Program – Covers municipal law, budgeting, public safety, and economic development.

  • Municipal Orientation Conference – Helps newly elected officials understand roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements.

  • Handbooks & Guides – Includes Handbook for Mayors and Councilmembers and The Municipal Officials’ Guide to Alabama Laws.

2. Continuing Education & Professional Development

 

  • CMO Advanced Training – Provides deeper expertise in specific policy areas.

  • Workshops and Webinars – Covers zoning, municipal finance, and legislative updates.
